slán agus ádh mór
master trappe
thank you for a wonderful 23 years at St. Mary's n.s.
Slán, Master Trappe!
It began in the year of '94,
A new, red-haired man walked through the front door,
With a spring in his step and drive and ambition,
He took on a new role - what a great decision.
He taught many classes and he did it with skill,
One stand-out feature was the excitement and thrill
He brought forth in his classes with presence and wit.
He made each brain tick, and things seemed to just 'click'.
His eyes would light up as he worked every day,
Teaching and explaining in all manner of ways.
All the effort and patience was more than worthwhile,
For those 'A-ha!' moments, when inside he'd smile.
If you are sporty or bookish, outspoken or shy,
Excelling or struggling, a girl or a boy,
None of that matters, what's better by far,
Is that you're content and you can be who you are.
- That's Master Trappe's belief, his firm philosophy:
The learning will follow, as long as you're happy.
A man of compassion, a great listener, that's clear,
Who lives by the mantra, 'We're all friends here'.
With flair and with spirit he's led this school,
If ever there were problems, his head remained cool,
He's been a teacher, a leader, a friend and a mentor,
With each decision he made, he kept the pupils at the centre.
So as you begin your retirement and move on to a new stage,
Don't see it as an end, Master - you're simply turning to a new page.
A brand new chapter is about to commence,
The world is your oyster; the opportunities, immense.
We wish you all the riches that life can bring;
Health and vitality, energy and zing.
So before you head back out Saint Mary's front door,
We bid you a sincere 'Slán leat' and 'Ádh mór'.
